Match.com Profile Help: Get The Girl In 4 Steps

When it comes to meeting attractive women online, Match.com is one of the best dating sites around. There are millions of single women on Match, and it is one of the biggest brands in the online dating industry.

So if it’s such a great site, why aren’t you meeting any women you really like?

Don’t blame Match.com for your profile’s failures. It’s you, not them. Let’s get it fixed.

A good online dating profile can make or break your chances of meeting someone. Basically, if you want to meet attractive women on demand, you need to have a killer profile.

Here at VIDA, we’ve written and tested thousands of profiles, so we know a little something about what will grab her attention and make her want to know more about you.

And we’re happy to write your profile for you. But if you want to give it a shot yourself, we’ve got all the Match.com profile help you can handle right here.

Here are 4 steps to writing a Match profile that will attract beautiful women and get you more dates!

1) Don’t Blow It With Your Photos

Yes, this article’s mainly about writing a better profile, but we’d be doing you a disservice if we didn’t even mention your photos.

Your profile could be ghostwritten by Shakespeare, Hemingway and Nicholas Sparks, but if your photos suck, so do your chances of attracting top-caliber women. Literary gold can’t save you from terrible photo decisions.

This article will give you all the info you need to make confident photo choices.

2) Remember: Names Have Power

Your username is important, because apart from your photo it’s one of the first things she sees. You have the option to use your real first name, which could be a good bet – especially if your name starts with a letter in the first half of the alphabet.

Research has shown names beginning with letters A-M are associated with higher levels of education, income, and overall success. And more importantly, your profile will show up higher in her search results.

But if your name is Xander, or sounds really foreign or otherwise unusual, you might want to come up with a creative username to use instead. Women tend to be attracted more to intelligence, bravery, and a willingness to take risks, so choose your username accordingly.

Here a few examples to get your creative juices flowing:

    • CommandPer4mance
    • Ahead0fThePack
    • TheWarriorWithin

3) Nail The “In My Own Words” Section

This is the most important part of your Match.com profile. It is the bulk of your profile, and sometimes the only thing she will read.

When you’re writing it, keep the 70-30 rule in mind. 70% about you, 30% about what you’re looking for.

The ideal “About Me” length is relatively short and sweet. Somewhere in the 225 to 300 word range is perfect. Chances are she’s browsing on her phone in between meetings, so make it easily digestible while still being memorable. You want to entice her curiosity, not write your autobiography.

match profile tip

The second rule for profile writing is show, don’t tell.

A list of adjectives describing what you think she wants (smart, adventurous, creative, kind, etc.) is a big no-no.

She’s read it a million times and probably doesn’t believe you anyway. She wants proof, so tell her a story that demonstrates these qualities. One interesting story is a lot more powerful than a bunch of empty words.

Here’s an example of an opening “About Me” paragraph that works:

Belts and straps are dangling from your sides, your instructor only speaks a foreign language, and you’re trusting him and the wind to keep you from abruptly slamming you into the face of a cliff… but that doesn’t *really* happen, does it? Well, I was already strapped into the paraglider, preparing for takeoff, and backing out didn’t seem like an option at that moment in time…

Not only does this story show her you are risk-taking adventurer, it leaves her wanting more. She’ll answer your message just to hear how it ends!

After you’ve caught her eye with a good story, tell her a thing or two about yourself. As she’s reading, she’s going to picture herself in your life so make it an appealing vision. Give her a snapshot into your daily activities, and show her you’re a well-rounded, active guy with a fulfilling life.

For a dating profile that gets results, follow this fool-proof formula:

    • Paragraph 1 – Hook her attention.
    • Paragraph 2 – Describe what you do for a living in an interesting way.
    • Paragraph 3 – Tell her a little about your hobbies, interests, etc.
    • Paragraph 4 – Tell her what type of woman you’re looking for.

It’s important to describe what you do for a living, especially if she’s looking for a more serious relationship. You want to portray yourself as a suitable mate – and if that sounds like it’s straight out of Darwin’s “survival of the fittest” theory, you’re exactly right. It is.

It’s also called Alpha Male theory, which basically means you want to appeal to her subconscious desires by showing that you’re ambitious and successful – the total package.

But talk about your occupation in an interesting way, no matter what you do for a living.

Here’s an example:

By day, I wear a suit, handle large sums of money, and take some calculated risks. Don’t worry, I’m not a mobster—just a mortgage banker who takes pride in getting to help people when they need it most. It’s fun too, but the best part is seeing the look on the face of a hard-working single mother when she’s been approved to buy her first home.

Isn’t that way more interesting than just writing “I’m a mortgage banker” or “I work in finance”? She’s going to think so.

One thing to keep in mind when you’re writing your Match profile – make sure you keep what you write consistent with your photos. If you tell her you’re into hang gliding, parasailing, and scuba diving, try your best to get a photo you look good in that shows you doing one of these activities.

woman confused by dating profile

You’ve heard the phrase “Pics or it didn’t happen.” That goes double for online dating profiles.

Your profile should build trust and likeability, so you shouldn’t use photos of you whooping it up at a club with your boys when you’ve written that you’re “the laid-back type and treasure relaxing weekends at my cabin in the Blue Ridge mountains.”

You need to paint a cohesive, consistent picture, or she’ll think something seems a bit off about your profile, and she probably won’t return your messages.

4) Transform Your Boring Subsections Into Fun Tidbits

Everyone on Match loves to travel. In fact, she’s sick of reading “I love to travel”. But “Favorite Hot Spots” is the section where you can show her all those colorful, vibrant places you’ve been.

Don’t just list them though. Instead, tell her a little bit about why a particular spot is your favorite. Here’s an example:

The Bahamas for snorkeling. Bonfires and camping on Ruby Beach. Whistler for the incredible fresh powder.

Take the same approach in the “Favorite Things” and “For Fun” sections, where you talk about your hobbies and use your interests to spark her interest. Don’t write something dull like “I enjoy going to the movies, travel, spending time with my family, golfing, swimming, and reading.”

You sound just like every other guy on Match. And the whole point is to sound better than those guys.

capture her imagination with your message

Instead, paint a picture for her. Remember, she’s trying to picture what it would be like to be with you. So give her a good idea of how fun it would be to date you.

Try something like this for your “Favorite Things” section:

Reading thrillers by the pool. Courtside seats at Husker’s games. Getting my hands dirty at a crab boil. Bike rides in the foothills. Seeing a live concert with friends.

This shows her you have diverse interests and they all sound like things she might enjoy doing with you.

And here’s an example of a “For Fun” section done right:

An epic beach day with my best friends and a cooler of ice cold beer. Cutting fresh powder with my snowboard on a last minute trip to Vail. Testing out a new recipe in the kitchen.

And at the very end of your profile, there’s the “Last Read” section. If the last thing you read was a menu or the label on a liquor bottle, it’s okay to skip this section and just leave it blank. But whatever you do, don’t say something like “I don’t have time to read” or “I’m not much of a reader.” Those are both inherently negative statements, and you want to keep your profile positive.

If you just finished an awesome book, do more than just list the title. Say a few words about why you enjoyed it:

“Hawke,” an espionage thriller by Ted Bell. The main character is a spy who jets around the world having adventures that would make James Bond choke on his signature cocktail.

And then you’re done!

PRO TIP: Be sure to update your profile regularly. Making small tweaks to the content or changing up your photos will send your profile to the front page of her search results.

Now you have all the tools you need to write a successful Match.com profile that gets results. And if it seems like it’s a lot of work to get it right, well – it is. But you have to put in some effort to meet high quality women.

Or you could make it super simple, and just hire a virtual dating assistant to do it all for you. We can write your profile, and even message all the beautiful women that you want to meet. The only thing you have to do is show up for the dates.
